Anyone planning a conference, a year-end review or a staff Christmas party for November or December 2026 finds both here: room for several hundred delegates, and one of Germany’s oldest Christmas-market settings right on the doorstep.

The Internationales Congress Center Dresden sets the frame for larger formats. Located directly on the southern bank of the Elbe, next to the old town, the venue opened in 2004 and holds up to 6,800 delegates. Smaller groups have a wide choice at our hotels in Dresden with flexible room formats, many within walking distance of the historic old town.

Striezelmarkt and the Christmas Garden as a supporting programme

The Dresden Striezelmarkt runs from 25 November to 24 December 2026 on the Altmarkt and ranks among Germany’s oldest Christmas markets — a supporting programme that slots straight into a conference without extra transfer time. For a calmer evening format, the Christmas Garden Dresden (19 November 2026 to 10 January 2027) offers an atmospheric light installation in the Großer Garten, well away from the main market crowds — a good way to close out the day after the official agenda.

Which events benefit most from Dresden

The city particularly suits:

Congresses and association events with several hundred delegates

Year-end meetings and leadership events

Events with international travel, thanks to its own airport and good ICE rail links

Staff Christmas parties that want a large, well-known Christmas-market backdrop

When is it worth looking at Weimar instead?

Not every group needs the scale of a congress city. For formats up to around 200 delegates, Weimar, roughly an hour away by train, is worth a look: its old town, part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Classical Weimar”, can be covered on foot, and the Congress Centrum Neue Weimarhalle offers a main hall for 1,200 plus five combinable meeting rooms — compact, but capable. Its own “Weimarer Weihnacht” Christmas season (24 November 2026 to 3 January 2027) brings a noticeably more intimate festive mood there. Anyone wanting to check a similarly well-connected regional alternative can also look at the conference hotels in Leipzig.

Dresden as a stage for the year-end

Large-scale capacity, short distances to the Christmas market, and a baroque backdrop that carries both breaks and evening programmes: Dresden delivers the infrastructure an Advent conference needs, without asking delegates to trade away the festive mood.

Send your enquiry about your conference hotel in Dresden for Advent 2026 now — we will check availability around the Striezelmarkt and the Christmas Garden for you.

Few cities in the Seminar Hotels Germany portfolio pair large-scale conference infrastructure with Christmas-market tradition as convincingly as Dresden.
